I am on the verge of purchasing privately a 3G - 8GB (Cellophane sealed box) however I'm just a little hesitant regards the following two points...


1. When I enter the serial number (to check the warranty) Apple Service and report page says...


Please activate your iPhone

We are unable to display coverage details because your iPhone has not been activated.
Please contact your iPhone retailer or wireless carrier to activate your iPhone.

Is this the normal response ?


2. Will I be able to remove the included Sim (if there is one) and insert my own Contract O2 Sim into the Phone, then activate it via itunes ?

Simple:

1) Insert your own sim into the iphone
2) load up itunes.
3) switch your phone on and connect it to the PC via USB.
4) Wait - after 1-2 minutes on the screen on the itunes it will say phone activated.
5) check warranty status and it will all be fine..!
