Battery Issue

When I got my 3GS , I gave my daughter my old 3G.Has been working fine. All of a sudden the battery will not hold a charge. It can drop 20% in 5 minutes. I Am thinking of getting a replacement at the Apple Store. Does anyone know if it can be done while you wait?? According to the Apple website it takes 5 days if you send it away. It mentions that the time may vary if you take it to the Store .

Re: Battery Issue

You'll need a Genius appointment, but would imagine if they cant do it there n then they would replace it.

Re: Battery Issue

How much would a new battery be (Mines out of warranty now) It seemed to be fine all the way up until i touch 3.0.1 - and no matter what i've done since then, its still done the same thing.

Tried a restore , no good. Updated to 3.1 , no good . Put back to 3.0 , no good.

Unfortunately the phone is approx. 15 months old, so out of warranty .

Cost according to apple website is £55

Re: Battery Issue

If you don't want to go to apple for any reason (it's jailbroken with apps they would frown at - for example) then there was a repair thread recently (which I cant find at the moment) where this company was mentioned as being decent to deal with. I bookmarked em in case I ever needed it.

Welcome to Cheapest UK iPod Repairs | Cheapest UK iPod Repairs

From memory the guy was Tony and the place was in Altrincham.

Ah.. here it is http://www.avforums.com/forums/iphon...ed-screen.html

Edit: £39.95 for battery replacement

Re: Battery Issue

Thanks, will restore to unjailbroken before taking it to Apple Store. If the price difference was greater I may have used the company you mentioned. But at £40+ the cost of sending the phone via RMSD, it makes no sense to use them.

Re: Battery Issue

I wouldn't be surprised if an App in the background was running or had an open data connection that was ruining your battery life. Now you've restored to 3.1 you've removed that rouge App, or re-installed it from a backup in iTunes at least, which has stopped the problem.

Re: Battery Issue

The thing is I restored it to 3.0 last weekend. Always set up as a new phone. Same apps on her phone and mine.
