Can you type messages on Mac to send from iPhone

I want to type messages on my MacBook, but send them via my iPhone as per a normal text message.

Can you do this, I seem to recall reading about it somewhere, but a google search reveals nothing

you could just use something like Welcome to your notable world | Evernote Corporation with it's free iPhone app
