3G or 3Gs ???

hi all

im due and upgrade and have been offered the Iphone 3Gs but have to pay £160 extra.

i can get the older Iphone 3G for £30 extra

is it really worth the extra £130 for the newer one, of the extras i am aware of (better camera etc) i am not really that bothered

is there anything that i would really miss out on if i just went for the older model.

Re: 3G or 3Gs ???

Its all about speed if i were you i would head down to an 02 store and test them side by side the 3GS opens apps and menus instantly while the 3G lags behind for a few secs before it does anything.

If you can afford it then without a doubt get the 3GS.

Re: 3G or 3Gs ???

people say the 3g lags, I'd say it doesn't really. No-one complained about it before the 3GS was released, and it doesn't take 'a few seconds' to load things, loading times on games take a little longer granted, but I wait up to a second to load emails and the like.

Personally, I cannot justify the 3GS for anything other than larger memory. Better camera yeah, but still not a great camera. Compass, doesn't really serve much purpose, yes it orientates maps, but I can count the times on one hand I've used maps, and use Navigon a lot more.

Re: 3G or 3Gs ???

It takes about 4-5 secs to load the menu on my 3G on the 3GS its instant.
Mine is j/b but no winterboard as that slows it down even more.I tried the 3GS side by side with my 3G and the 3GS is more the twice as fast.

Google augemented reality. It combines the gps and compass and the view finder. One app I saw lets you point your phone in a direction and combining gps and compass it tells you what is down there. Obviously its only on the 3GS.

Re: 3G or 3Gs ???

There is an increasing number of 3D games that are optimised for the 3GS now, due to it's increased speed and 3D gaming capabilities. This will become the norm now the new iPod Touch is out with the same performance on offer.

So if you want games on it, the 3GS is a good investment.

You dont happen to know the name of this App, do you? I've seen a similar one for tube stations in London, again I would like to know the name so I perhaps can download and test.

Edit: The tube one is called: Nearest Tube, however it is not released yet..

Neat video of it in action on This page.
