Outlook Calender not syncing.

My Mother has an iPod touch and now an iPhone. She uses the calender alot on the Touch, but when ever she syncs nothing is being pulled across to the Outlook Calender, and as a result unable to move everything to the iPhone

Not being a windows user and my Powerbook and iPhone syncing smoothly I'm at a loss as to what I need to look for.

Its an XP machine, and she doesn't currently use outlook as email client, instead using Outlook Express.

Can any of you guys suggest what I should be looking for / Changing!

Thanks.

Re: Outlook Calender not syncing.

Outlook will need to be installed and configured with a mail profile in order for a calendar to exist to be written to.

Even if you don't wish to use it long-term, create her mail profile in Outlook and try again.

Re: Outlook Calender not syncing.

Does anything appear in the Calendar when you open it from within Outlook?

And can you confirm what the setting says in iTunes, under (from memory) the Information tab? The option for calendar should tell you exactly where it's sending the data.

Re: Outlook Calender not syncing.

Outlook Calender is completely empty. I have tried changing views but nothing appears.

Under info I have tried Sync all calenders, and also individualy ticked "Calender" & " Home" Options.

Also as a side note if I create entry on the calender in outlook it does not get put onto the iPhone.

Some how I need to change the calender that Outlook is looking at.

( never had anything like these issues on my Powerbook - lol)

Re: Outlook Calender not syncing.

Let's think about this from a different angle then...

What are you trying to achieve? Do you want Outlook to have the calendar long-term? Or are you just trying to get the content backed up and transferred?

If the latter, I would head over to ZYB.com and create an account.
Then go to the App Store and download the ZYB App onto the iPod Touch.
Sign in with the account you have just created and Sync. This will put the contents of the calendar and address book into the ZYB account.

Now repeat the process on the iPhone, sign in the with same account and Sync. This will drag the contents down to the iPhone.

Keep the App installed and make a mental note to Sync every now and again and you'll also keep an online backup of your contacts and calendar, just in case the device gets lost/stolen/broken.

Other options are MobileMe (free trial available) and Google Mobile Sync (Google for info).

Re: Outlook Calender not syncing.

Does your Mum have Outlook set as her default mail programme? If not then set it then try.

Re: Outlook Calender not syncing.

Yes! tried it as default and as not!

Like I say I got the Calender info from her Touch onto the PC then synced onto the iPhone. Just can't see it in Outlook! Who knows where it is.

For peace of mind I shall try one of the online syncs as Rob has suggested.

Still doesn't get over the problem that she is unable to view Calender on her PC, or add Calender entrys on the PC to sync to the iPhone.

But at the end of the day she's just happy now that she didn't have to re enter everything from her Touch.
