Annoying problem

Right, Im sure I know the answer to this already but... when your iphone is in silent... does touching the silent swich do anything? I literally touch mine as light as possible and it goes into silent. If its in silent if you touch it is does the vibrate and shows the silent picture. I can literally press it 10 times and it has a fit!

Anyone else have this stupid problem? And more importantly will apple replace it?

Cheers

Re: Annoying problem

Nope, mine is a pretty solid on/off switch. Once it's in place, you have to flick it back to activate it and just touching/rocking it doesn't change a thing. I've read before that the switch can be a little flakey so yours could be on it's way out?

Its insane, I never really have my phone on loud so I have it in my pocket on silent ill move and my jeans touch the silent switch making it vibrate literally 20 times!!

apple store is milesss away!! Plus, a restore means 3.1! god damn it!!

Re: Annoying problem

Cheers for that chelsea..

I get:

Our records indicate that your product is covered under Apple's Limited Warranty which is estimated to expire on 17 March 2010.

So, im covered, does that mean that they will fix or replace it? Ive never taken anything back to them before! I don't want to make the journey for them to tell me to sod off!

They say you need to take the phone with the latest fw so updating to 3.1 will do the same as a restore right? If I set it up as a new phone can I then still restore from a backup tomorrow?

Yes it will, if you update it will take you to 3.1 in a restored state and will then restore your last backup on the top.

Re: Annoying problem

Well I went to apple today, told the guy the problem and within a minute he was getting me a new phone out the drawer. Love how they check for water damage with the same sorta scope a dr. uses to look in your ears!!

Brilliant service from apple!

Just a 3G. People were having to order 16GB 3GS because they were out of stock. Im not bothered about paying even more for a 32GB, I don't have any music on my iPhone as theres about 60GB or so on my ipod so use that. Ive got this nicely protected so it should sell well when I buy a 3GS
