iPhone stuck in recovery mode

I hope someone can help me with my iPhone. I was having a few problems with the phone so took it to the apple store. The guy in there told me to to restore it to see if it sorted the problems. I've tried to restore it but it's stuck in recovery mode.

It says "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."

So I click on restore and it seems to go through the motions of updating things, then I get an error saying "the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. It's either error code 13 or 2002.

It won't switch on or do anything at all, but it's not been jailbroken and is the 3G not 3GS version

Plug the cable into your PC but before you plug it into your phone, hold the home button down, hold it down until the itunes activation screen pops up. Give that a go.

I've just tried holding down the home key and it's still coming up with the same error after trying to restore. I've got an appointment to go back to the apple store but that's not til monday

Restart your computer then restore

I've tried restarting my pc. I've also tried using a different pc, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes then trying it. Nothing seems to be working

I had this problem when i upgrade to the new iphone software.
After countless restarts, restore attempts etc... i uninstalled itunes and deleted all the itunes folders (huge pain in the arse) and this seemed to sort it. Would do that as a last resort though, try syncing with another computer maybe

It seems to have gone weird since I updated to the latest software. I've got an appointment at the apple store tomorrow so I'm hoping they'll be able to fix it

i had a similar problem once, i phoned apple and i am still waiting for higher tech support to ring me back, this was about 7 months ago!!
i sorted it in the end by deleating anything apple related (itunes, safari, quicktimeetc) and reinstalled it all again and it found the iphone and sorted it out.

I tried to restore it using another laptop but it kept trying to install new software and stalled with a few minutes left to go so I've just given up on it to be honest.
I'm counting the minutes til my appointment with an Apple genius so I'll let you know how I get on, assuming they can fix it
