Hi all,

I fitted a screen protector when I got my 3Gs and its a little damaged now in places. How can it be removed without damaging or scratching the screen.

Thanks

Re: Screen protectors.

Its not that simple, it's stuck pretty good and the only way I think I can do it is hack away with my finger nails which will either damage or sratch the screen.

Just wondered if there was a treid and tested way to remove them without causing damage.

Re: Screen protectors.

i think the Apple/Power support ones come off by puting selotape on it and lifting/peeling away from the edge.

Not sure if it works for other makes?

Re: Screen protectors.

that was quick fire ;o)
i doubt a fingernail would scratch a plastic screen, a key/screwdriver i another thing
only problem with fingernail is maybe ome ticky residue whhere you first start to peel,

Re: Screen protectors.

Sounds like a cheaply made screen protector

The good quality ones should come off easily with a little help from sellotape

Smooth-screen protector?

Thought I'd hi-jack this thread instead of starting another one.

Basically having tried a few screen protectors I've been really dissapointed with the fact that they all seem to make the screen far less smooth to the touch, which is a major drawback. I guess when screen protectors were first designed all people did was press the screen but with the iPhone I use the 'swipe' motion almost constantly (in games and apps) and the smoothness with which my finger glides over the screen is a huge issue for me. I (wrongly) thought that a good screen protector wouldn't impact this aspect of the usability of the phone - but now I've resorted to using a screen protector which still has the outer cover on as it's the only way I can continue to use the phone as I like to.

To be honest I'm not all that bothered about 'crystal clarity' all I want is something which a) protects the screen and b) allows the same tactile feel as the original screen (or as close as is possible).

Without spending lots of money trying various screens out does anyone have any experience with screen protectors which don't impare the smoothness of the screen?

Cheers

What's 'traction' mean (in this instance)? I wonder whether it'd be better to go for a matt finish such as the anti-glare to ensure the smoothest surface? Has anyone used this and how does it compare to the normal screen? Cheers

The apple anti glare screen protector is imo the best you can buy.

I hardly notice that it is on.

The power support ones are definately the best IMO. I use the anti glare. You can see it's on more than with the crystal but it doesn't give the orange peel effect which some of the others give and you get absolutely no fingerprints. Both the antiglare and the crystal (which our daughter has on her iPod touch) feel excellent, provide good protection and are easy to apply and remove.

A trick when applying. The powersupport come with a sticky pad similar to post-it note glue. As you apply lower the protector and if you get any dust peel it back and dab the dust with the sticky pad then continue applying. Works a treat

What Mr F said. The Power Support ones are excellent, though after experimenting with both, I've settled for the crystal ones. IMHO although they do leave prints, they're the closest thing to the original screen in feel. I also think with vids and pictures that the anti-glare ones do very slightly show the texture of the screen protector.

Oh yes, the Post-it trick really does work.

Cheers

I took my sceen protector off a few months ago when it started to look tatty. I still haven't got round to replacing it and the screen still looks new, it's even been (accidently) in the same pocket with change/keys.

Really impressed how scratch resistant the screens are, doubt if I'll bother getting another protector.
