Looking to buy used iPhone - bit worried, couple of questions

I'm looking to buy a used iPhone. Been told it works fine but they don't have box or accessories anymore. I have the serial taken from the phone SIM holder and checked it out on the iphone warranty check page.... This is all OK.

I'm picking the phone up in person before payment.
I have a 02 simplicity 12 month contract SIM. If I try this sim and it works can the phone still be blocked after I've purchased it??

Just a bit worried as I don't wanna lose out and have the phone be blocked after I've purchased it.

a phone can be blocked at any time if reported lost/stolen by the owner.

Is there any way to change ownership on these... so that I am the rightful owner after buying?
Ie. owner rings o2 or fills in some form etc..

If the owner is still in contract then the phone technically belongs to o2 i think (correct me if im wrong someone) so ownership could not be transferred. Its a matter of trust i guess.

Been told that this is PAYG (definately not contract), does that change anything... is there anyway to change ownership for the handset in this scenario?

Re: Looking to buy used iPhone - bit worried, couple of questions

This is the exact reason i won't buy a 2nd hand expensive phone to scared incase it's been found by the seller or stolen it's all about trust i guess if it's a friend then maybe's it's fine but you take your chance with a random person that you have just meet from the internet.

I was close to buying a 2nd hand iphone for a good price but decided that i would rather wait and spend a few quid more for 1 year's warranty and peace of mind known it's my phone so not going to get blocked or break for any reason.

But that's just my 2 pence worth

Re: Looking to buy used iPhone - bit worried, couple of questions

my concern about buying a 2nd hand one would be how the battery has been treated and im sure when i go to sell my 3GS i will make a point of saying its been well looked after.
