Let's work it out based on a 16GB iPhone then...
12GB of Music leaves 4GB free.
Apps and games can easily and quickly get to over 1GB. Conservative math here though, so now you have 3GB free.
A few movies, music videos, funny clips etc.. another 0.5GB... 2.5GB free
What about pictures? Say another 0.5GB? Leaves you 2GB free. Or does it? 16GB is actually closer to 15GB due to the stupid and inconsistent way capacities are calculated, even moreso after formatting.
These are conservative figures, movies can quickly add up for instance, as can pictures. Apps and Games, especially intensive games like Need for Speed and others like it can be pretty big too. So you may find your remaining space is quickly eaten up.
So you may be fine with a 16GB, depending on your usage. If you're confident you wont go over the sort of figures I've worked this out on then superb. Or if you're happy to not have
everything from your media collection on it, no problem.
Just remember if you ever change your mind about Sat Nav or your music collection grows over time, you've no space to play with.
Ultimately cost is the deciding factor. If you can afford to buy the 32GB then it's better to have the space and not need it, than need it and not have it. But if you are going to struggle to find the money, it's a moot point.
