Iphone taken back to O2 today

Well i've taken my iphone back to O2, superb phone but shocking signal strength and it was always on the GPRS signal. Not sure what to do now, spoke to the girl in store about payasugo and jailbreaking it, she said i would invalidate my warranty, asked about other networks getting the iphone, she said O2's just signed a 10 year exclusive deal with Apple, not sure how true that is but i'm gutted eitherways, i've checked the other networks and the best signal around my way would be either Vodafone or go back to Orange......
Dam it, anyone have an unlocked iphone on either and if so what talk plan you got and does it cover internet browsing .

jailbreaking and unlocking does not invalidate your warranty.

if you ever had a problem with the phone once it is jailbroken and unlocked all you would need to do is restore it to factory settings and take it back - they cannot tell.

ive just unlocked mine to vodafone - superb.

Well i have to go back into the store tomorrow so i'm gonna quiz her about that now, cheers think i'm gonna order one from Apple and jailbreak it, just trying to find out which has the better network around me for 3G Orange was'nt bad but is Vodafone better? Their retrospective websites don't give much info on 3G coverage apart from the saying its average where i am...
Ah well back to the internet lol

no point in quizzing her, she will only try and tell you not to do it. I doubt O2 would praise you for jailbreaking and unlocking it. If i were you i would keep the jailbreaking part quiet and just buy another one and follow the jailbreaking guides on this forum, the guys here are awesome and will help, you will have no problem.

vodafone are decent, best signal coverage in my area anyway. good luck!

Won't be going with T-Mobile their coverage is worse than O2 according to their coverage website.

O2 Have just signed a 10year exclusive deal with Apple

I wasnt the only one that found this HILARIOUS!!

As someones already stated, just get one on PAYG get the sim you want jailbreak and unlock, if it goes wrong, restore and go back to the Genius Bar! They'll never know.

Re: Iphone taken back to O2 today

I know...which is why there's no chance of an O2 10 year exclusive. Even without the news of other providers getting the iPhone, there's no way any of them could afford a 10 year exclusive and none of them would probably want to risk it either.

Did think about saying something to her about that comment but thought i'd get the contract cancelled first.
Just wish Apple would wake up and realise if they opened the iphone up to other networks they would sell a hell of a lot more than they do now

Well the rumours are it will come to T-Mobile officially as they are the exclusive carrier in Germany, and maybe another carrier will get it, although at the moment it looks as though they will only get the 3G and 3Gs will still be exclusive with O2!. But I have no idea why!.

Technically jailbreaking does void your warranty, if you were to take a jailbroken phone into an apple store for them to fix they would laugh you out the shop but as you say, a restore removes all signs of the jailbreak and apple can't tell.

I've had to have mine replaced twice, both times they were jailbroken and I just did a restore before going to the apple store.
