Ring Tone Help

I have created four ringtones on the Audiko - create your own free mobile and iPhone ringtones website.

They are all in my iTunes library, but only two will show as available to sync on the phone.

How do I get the crap that constitutes iTunes to put them onto my phone?

When you save the ringtones from Audiko, make sure you save them to the Ringtones folder, or save where you like and move them there yourself.

Then add them by clicking File>Add Folder to Library and choose the Ringtone folder.

Then with the iPhone connected, goto the Ringtones tab and make sure Sync Ringtones is checked. Then you can either check All Ringtones or Selected Ringtones to choose a selection instead of all.

Sync and they should now be available to choose on the iPhone.

Thats the issue

They are there in my library but do not show up in the ringtones I can sync.

Also make sure they are no longer than 30 seconds.

Just found that if I don't edit the id tag before saving it, I can sync it.

Has anyone found a way yet of getting or creating text message alert tones? I'm absolutley fed up with the awful standard selection. why oh why can't they be created or downloaded like the ringtones?

The only way of getting different text message alerts is to jailbreak your phone and use ToneFXS in Cydia.

Thanks for that, I'm not sure what jailbreaking means. My iPhone 3G is sim-free because I live outside O2's area, in the Channel Islands. Does that make a difference?

OK, I've now had a look at jailbreaking but it all looks a bit dodgy to me. If it all goeswrong, can the iPhone be restored by itunes?

Yes, if it does not go as planned then the phone can always be restored via itunes.

It will be as if you had never done the jailbreak.

I to was sceptical until i took the plunge 3 weeks ago and have not looked back

Yes it can be done, you can use any mp3 clip.

how could i use that?
