Hard screen protection

hi, i am thinking of the getting the new i phone 32gb, but i am after hard screen protection instead of the clear film that you can get, preferably a case that you don't have to remove the phone to use, any ideas?

Re: Hard screen protection

I use a leather case which opens like a book. Not too stylish as my beautiful iphone looks like a wallet but performs the job I need it to. Cost was about £5 from amazon.

I also use the clear film. You cannot get a hard version of this as the touch screen will not work.

thanks for your response, yeah just looked at some of those, some of them look ok, but like you said, looks like a wallet

thought that about the hard screen protection as i was writing but thought i would ask anyway just incase there was some thing a bit sturdier than the film.

Re: Hard screen protection

thing is though, the touch screen is not a resistive one (like on a DS) it's a capacitive one. So you could get a "hard case" but you'd have to remove it each time you wanted to use the phone.

to be honest, the phone screen is very hard wearing anyway. I run mine naked, and have a couple of faint scratches, this was due to putting the phone in the same pocket as my car keys by accident....

If you are really concerned, I'd go with the screen protection film

Re: Hard screen protection

You could have a look at the otterbox defender.
iPhone 3G / 3GS Defender Case // OtterBox.com
I just got one from ebay for £15

I must admit I have not tried it on a iphone yet as I wont be getting my phone till the end of the month, but wanted a case on hand for when i get the phone.

It's got a good solid feel to it, although it will add a bit of bulk to your iphone.

Re: Hard screen protection

thanks for the responses guys, i just had an impression that the screen was quite easy to break as my mates brothers original i phone screen broke when he leant against a table....

the otter case looks quite strong & sturdy, all the cases i have seen with which you would have to remove the phone look a bit naff i thought.

I am toying with the idea of getting the n97 as it is a bit bulkier & would be harder to damage, any thoughts on that?

i think you should leave this part of the forum for your own good!!

thing is, if you respect your gadgets, they will hold up well. from what you are saying you must be conscious about looking after them, so I can't see you doing something as daft as leaning against a table!
