I am looking at getting a 3gs, the only place i can find them in stock is at the apple store.

I have been told it is their policy to set it up before leaving the shop. Is this so they can put 3.1 on and render the phone useless for jailbreaking, or is 3.1 not available yet and so its safe to get one from there

got mine from the apple store on wednesday night. all they do is take your details, do a credit check and setup your direct debit.

its then connected to iTunes for 2 mins and all it says is activated.
