Smile iphone neewbie about transfering files

Hi I have placed an order for my 1st iphone , the 3gs black 32gb.
Now I know you need itunes to activate but I absolutley HATE itunes, I have had a look around to find alternatives like iphone pc suite, copytrans.

Just wanted to know if you guys had other options free preferably, or other ways of transfering files across. I know it will not work using it as a mass storage device

Any links pointers information will be highly appreciated

I have downloaded it before and the album view just messes everything up. I mainly use wmp and like that as I dont bother with playlists, I simply have the album, sync to my mobile and viola. Itunes just creates what ever album it wants regardless of what the folder layout is, it has imported in

Why does it show single tracks when I select album view. Granted my cds that I have ripped are complilations and have different artists but are linked to one album, itunes separates them all thinking they are different, but in wmp it does what it does. Shows an album with all tracks from it. I for the love of god cant seem to do that on itunes, must be me

I suspect the filter option is ON e.g. in browser view and that your import option is somehow not to your liking e.g. copy/not copy imported album to iTunes folder or format option etc.

Anyway, granted you have a shiny new Mac, here is one option that I know:
Ecamm Network: PhoneView - Add Notes to iPhone and iPod Touch - Backup to iPhone - Download Notes, Access SMS, Contacts, Call History.

How's that? Alternatively, for those sticking put: http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/.

I also hated iTunes But since being forced to use it because I bought an iPhone I have grown accustomed to it. In fact I don't use anything else now. You just need to change some settings and you can get it pretty much how you want.

Re: iphone neewbie about transfering files

its a pile of steaming waste product.

I hate iTunes more than any man alive.

just turn all the automatic stuff off, never let it sync when you plug it in and never let it auto update.

There are no alternatives. Apple tend to mess about with encoding of the database tables. the upshot is that you might get it working with something like Winamp. but when the iPhone updates (new firmware) yyou might find it stops working.

just be patient with iTunes and its bearable. you might have thew most power PC in world and iTunes will still run like a dog in windows.
