Error 23?

Hey guys, basically i bought a black 3g iphone off my mates girlfriend a few days ago she had it from new she said, and anyway i couldnt get a signal on it so i reset it then it woudnt come back on, once plugging it into itunes it said it needed to be reset and updated so i let it download the software and all i get is unknown error 23, somehting about a radio error or something. Iv checked the warrenty and its under warrenty till jan 2010 so i think i mite just send it off.
Any ideas why this is happening though? Thanks

Error 23 is a baseband/radio error. It occurs when an unlock and baseband flash is not successful. The way to fix this is to get it out of DFU mode, which it is stuck in because iTunes can't read its IMEI number due to the baseband problem. Once out of DFU mode, you can fix your baseband. The problem is that you can't get out of DFU mode.. The broken baseband might have done physical damage, and you will need to go to the apple store to get a new one. They might give you one if they're in a good mood, anyway they wouldn't know that it's had an attempted unlock due to the fact you can't get it out of DFU mode.

No you'll be fine, just pop into an Apple store or send it back to them.

Sorry , but if YOU know Error 23 is what it is, wouldnt a "genius"? And if so, would that automatically void the warranty, even if you pleaded ignorance?

Who is a genius? Every Apple employee? Clearly you know nothing about phones, especially the Iphone.

Whose to say they haven't tried upgrading to OS 3.0?

Re: Error 23?

I meant genius as in the job title of the people that work in the Apple Stores? I was in no way having a pop at you, I was just asking the question.

I know I later realised that I over jumped the 'gun' so I must apologise, I have a habit of that in real life too
