URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

Hi all, just got home with my shiny new 3GS.... but, I thought it would come with at least a basic screen protector to put me on until my Switcheasy Rebel comes... and it doesn't

I refuse to use it without having a screen protector on which means im gonna have to pop out and buy one now. They had a pack of 3 in O2 for £7.99, are they any good?

Shops that might stock screen protector's in close proximity to where I live - O2, Carphone Warehouse, HMV, Curry's, Comet & PC World

Any of these sell a decent one?

I can honestly say that price isn't the object at this moment in time, I just wanna be able to use my iPhone

Many many thanks

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

Theres mixed opinions on screen protectors for the 3GS as the screen is coated to resist fingerprints so is a screen protector necessary?

If it was me and I had decided I wanted a protector on it i'd buy a cheap screen protector, the o2 ones will be fine and order the anti glare protector off the apple website if you don't have an apple store close by. They're probably the best screen protectors you can get.

EDIT:

This is the power support anti glare protector:

http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TS...mco=MTYxMTA5Nw

If you just want a plain, non-glare protector the crystal is the alternative:

Its not so much the fingerprints as scratches im worried about.

I could pop up to Meadowhall as there is an Apple shop there, its just a bit of a journey (30-45 mins away depending on traffic). As for the Anti-Glare, I'd prefer to have the sharpest screen possible as opposed to losing even a small amount of clarity

The screen shouldn't scratch, but im with you, I wouldn't risk not using one. If you don't want the anti-glare the crystal is its see through sibling!

Is the Anti-Glare THAT good?

Im considering buying the normal screen protector's from O2 to put me on until I can decide on a pricier one

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

I had the ones from O2 on my 3G and they were pretty awful.

The Anti-Glare has excellent resistance to smudges and finger prints.

When ive used them they've looked cheap, had an orange peel look to them, came loose in the corners etc.

To be honest, i'd say you have two choices.

The anti glare is brilliant resisting finger prints, goes on well and in my opinion is the best available. If your not too keen on the anti-glare go for the crystal, if its fitted properly you can hardly see it.

Its just one hell of a trek to make for the sake of a screen protector

I had a 3G in my pocket for nearly a year without a scratch on it. Don't ruin a great phone with tat accessories.

Ive decided not to mess about so im gonna make the journey

The £7.99 I would have spent on the naff ones today to tide me over can be my fuel money up to Meadowhall instead

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

Have had three iphones. My daughter had my 2G for the last year, and although she managed to damage something UNDER the glass ,the surface is in fantastic condition with no scratches

The phone has lived in her handbag with keys, hair clips, brushes and lots of other girlie things.
My 3g and now my 3gs are all naked (screenwise) , both wothout scratches or any marks of any kind.Although I do take care of my phones ,they live in a pocket on their own 99% of the time. They have gone in with a set of keys and coins though. The screens seem very difficult to mark permanently.

I bought 3 mirror finish ones on eBay for about £1 delivered, granted they come from abroad but they are top notch

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

Another here for the Power Support (non anti glare) screen protector.

I got given a pack gratis after Apple messed me around whilst I was buying my 3GS. They seem to fit well, come packaged nicely with a screen cleaner and seem sturdy enough without standing out.
You also get two in a pack, which is nice.

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

Well I went up to Meadowhall and bought 2 packs of the much coveted "Anti-Glare" (1x pack for me and 1x pack for the gf).

I spent so long trying to get the first one on mine it got a tiny tiny dust-hair stuck to the underside, I tried to get it off but just made things worse... binned

The second one also had to be re-fitted multiple times as I just couldn't get it right, in the end I just left it as I didn't want to risk losing another...

Next was my gf's iPhone, the third one now... I decided to put it on bottom-to-top as opposed to the recommended top-to-bottom this time... worked perfectly first time

So I then decided to re-fit mine bottom-to-top... got it prettymuch perfect first time, didn't want to risk it again for the sake of being the tiniest fraction out

So, I would strongly advise anyone to try bottom-to-top first as it is far easier to align it properly

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

I've recently taken my Anti-Glare off due to dust building up around the edges of it. I then failed to correctly fit the other one in the pack so that went straight in the bin

Now my screen is naked until I can be bothered to go to the Apple store.

Lol, I couldn't go naked, i'd be too scared to use it

Its bugging me like made that the back keeps getting all fingerprinty, I cant wait for my case to come.

Why on earth don't Apple supply us with a screen cloth to clean the phone with? £550-worth of technology and they can't chuck in a tiny cloth

The screen itself is pretty scratch resistant to be honest so i'm not too worried about it getting damaged.

My 3G and 3GS both came with a very small and next to useless screen cloth contained in the cardboard sleeve.

I've recently taken my Anti-Glare off due to dust building up around the edges of it. I then failed to correctly fit the other one in the pack so that went straight in the bin

Now my screen is naked until I can be bothered to go to the Apple store.
No need to chuck them away if they get dust on the static side. You can either clean the dust off with the sticky dust remover supplied or, wash it with flowing cold water.
All you have to do then is shake off the excess water (there will be some small drops left), re-apply it and smooth with a microfibre cloth. This will also soak up the (very) small amount of water left.

Re: URGENT! Best Screen Protector I Can Get From A Shop Today?

from personal experience running the screen shield under water left residue on it, I used cellotape and it worked perfectly to restore a shield with lint all over it to one that looked brand new.

This is a 5 star vid. I was applying the SwitchEasy screen protector which came with the rebel and got 2 little dust particles near the top left while adjusting it.

I thought i would live with the bubbles for a while as didnt want to risk ruining the 2nd one. Then came across this vid the next day. Tried it and wow it worked great. Now no bubbles and saved the protector.
