Sky email on Iphone

I'm looking for some help setting up my iphone for sky mails. I have my sky emails forwarding to microsoft outlook on my laptop and now I have my iphone I was hoping to set it up to receive them as well. I've done a bit of reading and there's all sorts of terms like pop forwarding and imap which I'm not sure about, I know my emails to my laptop are through pop forwarding or something like that and was hoping it would be easy enough to set up the same account on my phone and receive them in both. Do I just add the same sky account to my phone and hope it doesn't screw up my laptop settings or is it pretty complicated?

Re: Sky email on Iphone

When you start the setup of an email account on your iPhone select "Gmail" (as Sky email is powered by Google) When requested enter your user name and password for your email account and you should be sorted.

Do you also receive your mails on outlook with this setup?
I was going to try just setting it up but on another site people were saying you need to go to your sky account and change imap and pop settings to get emails to both. I'm just worried incase i screw up my mails coming into outlook on my laptop

Re: Sky email on Iphone

I use 'Mail' on a mac and yes i do receive the mail on here too. You WILL need to change your settings from pop3 to imap. This will then mirror all changes everywhere.

For example:
If you send an email from the iphone it will appear in your outbox in outlook on your computer. Or if you used the web mail to send an email it will appear in the outbox on the iphone and in outlook, the same if you delete something.
It is very useful.

I've just done the sync email and it seems to have set up my account on 3GS but when I send a test mail from my laptop to my email I only get it on my laptop not on the iphone.

Have you changed the settings from pop3 to imap?

If so, then refresh the outbox on the iphone and it will be there.

I just thought I would provide some instructions, has I have read a few people are wanting to know if its possible to have Sky email PUSH/PUSHED through, on the iPhone, well it is if you follow the below

instructions.

1. Open the Settings application on your device's home screen.
2. Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. Tap Add Account....
4. Select Microsoft Exchange. OS 4.0+ now allows multiple Exchange accounts.

Enter Account Info

5. In the Email field, enter your full Sky email address.
6. Leave the Domain field blank.
7. Enter your full Sky email address as the Username.
8. Enter your Sky password as the Password. This is the password you used when you first created your Sky account (My Sky/Skyid etc).

9. Tap Next at the top of your screen.
9a. Choose Cancel if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.
10. When the new Server field appears, enter m.google.com. I know this is m.google, but it works with Sky email because Sky email is basically the same as google email.

11. Press Next at the top of your screen again.

12. Select the services (Mail, Calendar, and Contacts) you want to sync.

13. Unless you want to delete all the existing Contacts and Calendars on your phone, select the Keep on my iPhone option when prompted. This will also allow you to keep syncing with your computer via iTunes.

You can use the same setup to add a google mail email account has a Microsoft Exchange account.

I can confirm that PUSH works on the iPhone with the above instructions. I have sent an email to my google email address and also my Sky email address and both are pushed through IMMEDIATELY.

Or yeah..... Don't forget to enable PUSH in Settings/mail, contacts, calenders section on the iPhone. Click on FETCH NEW DATA and switch PUSH on.

Hope this is of help

I've got all the gmail folders too - I'm happy with the way I have setup my sky email it all seems to be working fine now that I have setup as Imap accounts instead of pop.
Now the only problem is my inbox looking a complete mess with loads of gmail folders I don't want ... I can't even seem to click on gmail to get all the folders to be hidden so there's a great long list on view all the time - any ideas?

Thanks muchly Mell
