Ringing Volume

Is there any way to set the volume of the ring tones in a profile?

I keep missing calls as I keep the master volume quite low for playing games etc.

Its really annoying both missing calls and having to remember to set the volume up to high again when taking the phone out.

Surely you can adjust a setting to make the ring volume always 'loud' and over-ride the master volume?

Re: Ringing Volume

Doesn't just flicking the silent button during game playing kill the sounds? then just unflick it for phone calls.

Or get a better vibrate solution from cydia for maximum alerting

Nah, I dont wanna mute the sound completely, just not have it on full volume (which is needed to have any chance of hearing a call if you have the phone in your pocket).

Not Jailbroken either, so Cydia not an option.

Cheers though - guess I'll have to ensure I remember to set the volume in future.

Just found my first pet-peeve with the iPhone

Re: Ringing Volume

The ringer volume does not alter on my iPhone so long as I only turn down the volume while playing a game. The in-game volume is independent of the ringer. The word 'ringer' should not appear when adjusting the volume in-game.

Re: Ringing Volume

you need to wait to the game has actually loaded to turn down the in game volume. Press it once and if it says ringer on the screen that's the ringing vol and not the in game volume.

Re: Ringing Volume

I think I'm right in saying the volume control changes the volume for the type of application you're in at that moment.

If you're just on the home screen, it will adjust the ringing volume.
If you're in iPod it will adjust only the music volume.
If you're in an application it will adjust the application volume only.

So turn the main volume up, launch a game and turn the volume down.

Worth a go
