Mobiles.co.uk

Hi Guys

Just require some info from peeps who have ordered a 3gs off mobiles.co.uk

Is the card you enter for the credit check the one they take the money from for the phone purchase. I assume so because there is no other card entry options.

The reason I ask is because I want to use hubbys credit card to purchase it which will be under his name, but I want the credit check done on me.

Cheers

By a holding email do you mean they take your money and send it once they have stock?

Apparently not

Hello,

Thank you for your recent order.

Unfortunately, the item you ordered is temporarily out of stock but a large delivery is expected very soon. We have placed your order for this on hold and will notify you as soon as we have more information.

Rest assured that we will not charge your card for out of stock items until they are back in stock and ready for despatch.

I had a similar problem with an order for my iphone 3GS with mobiles.co.uk....

I ordered my 3GS (thru a cashback site), received an email confirmation that my order had been accepted and that I would receive another mail when the order was despatched. 1 day later and still no despatch email.... i then called them only to hear that "oh, I'm not sure what happened to your card payment, it hasn't gone thru Sir, but I can take it now over the phone....". They were blatantly trying to avoid paying cashback due to running the transaction over the phone!

I ended up cancelling from them, losing my cashback but picked up my new iphone the very same day from an O2 store instead

This has also happened to two of my colleagues - I'm sure mobiles.co.uk have initiated this little delay to avoid cashback payments!

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

Don't think I will bother ordering from them. I have been trying their sales line for a while and no one ever picks up the phone. Don't fancy having a problem with the order/phone and never getting through to them.

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

Hi all,

1) The credit card is used as proof of ID, so you will not be able to use a partner's etc.

2) We absolutely do not try to take orders over the phone to avoid paying cashback.

3) As a low-cost online retailer with no retail/call centre premises we operate largely via email (which we reply to within 4 hours, without fail), and given the massive demand for iPhone we have had some large call queues lately. Apologies if this has caused anyone problems but it quite clearly states on our site that the card you use must be registered to yourself.

Regards

Ben

Sorry, but you're wrong. Verifying/correcting credit card details over the phone wouldn't have affected cashback for you or your colleagues, as the original order placed via the cashback sites still stands.

Hi Ben, while you're here - I ordered a 16gig S yesterday and got an email to say that a delivery is expected very soon. Any idea on when I can get my clammy little hands on my new phone?

Thanks.

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

There's limited stock available that we're sending out in date order, and we're expecting a large delivery of 16Gb this week - enough to cover all orders. Unfortunately delivery dates aren't readily available from Apple.

you have to sign up to a cashback site like quidco. And then go VIA quidco to the retailers site (mobiles.co.uk) and then place your order.

The cashback site should then track your order and then pay you cashback approx 2 months after you placed the order.

Quidco - The web's cashback cooperative

Quidco - Mobiles.co.uk cashback

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

Thanks for the replies.

With quidco you have to do the transaction wholly online so I am not sure what happens if its out of stock.

Mobiles_Ben
Waiting in a queue on the phone wouldnt be a problem. Its the fact it just keeps ringing and ringing. Maybe some kind of queueing system would be an idea then at least you know your called should be picked up eventually.

I have been bitten in the past by ordering from companies you can't get through to on the phone and I don't feel like doing that again.

I would like to order from you and if you definately answer emails then maybe I will give that a go if I have any queries

Got that too.

I'd happily take a few more days' delay if they want to start adding freebies.

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

To their credit i had a quick reply back to my query of no tracking showing on quidco though the reply basically said thats not our problem speak to quidco , i specifically detailed within my email that all i required was assurance that mobiles.co.uk were aware of my order via quidco and would provide the cashback asap but no joy however as stated i did receive a speedy reply

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

Hiya Guys/Girls,

I am looking for a quick bit of advice:

I was about to get a 3GS from O2, and then I noticed this thread and the £60 I could get through Quidco, which would nicely pay for the first 2 months (ish) and seems like the best 'discount' going for a iPhone.

Couple of Q's:

- If I buy a phone through Mobiles.co.uk, who will I actually be contracted to, Mobiles.co.uk or O2?

- Who will actually bill me?

- Can I order the phone on-line and then when it turns up, sort out getting my current number transferred?

Thanks for any advice!

O2 - mobiles are just the reseller

Mobiles will bill you for the phone, O2 will bill you for the monthly contract

Yes. Just get your PAC code from your current supplier and once you're connected to O2, let them know you'd like to port your number.

Re: Mobiles.co.uk

Well, I'm going to have to email Mobiles.co.uk on Monday - despite buying a brand new 32GB 3GS from them (on contract), they've only paid me £40 cashback, not £60 as promised. The money's been received by Quidco, so clearly the order tracked properly - my guess would be someone at the Mobiles.co.uk end has failed to notice that I got a 3GS from them.

What a disappointment - I've had nothing but praise for Mobiles.co.uk throughout the whole process of getting the iPhone, and I've recommended them to everyone I know, only to be let down right at the very end. Poor show!

Here's hoping they rectify the matter quickly and I don't have to wait 2 months for the other £20 they owe me
