Has Anyone Purchased Iphone 3GS from America?

I have ordered a PAYG Iphone from Apple UK. I intend to use it with my O2 Monthly Tariff Sim. However, the guy said that it was being sent from the US. From what I have read, US Iphones will not work in the UK.

Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

it will work, although not sure on the old sim issue.
but given the its payasyougo i believe they are unlocked as default so should be fine,if however its not unlocked then you can jailbreak it etc etc to get it to work - you just need a little common sense thats all.

i do believe stuff like youtube and obviously visual vm doesnt work however.

The pay and go ones are unlocked for use on any network ?

It was Apple UK but the guy said there were none in the UK, so it would be sent from America.

No not from the U.K. or U.S.A.

They probably didn't have any stock and have some being shipped from the States for the U.K. market.

I live in Ireland and have just had my phone replaced and it came from the U.K. I'm on PAYG but the phone was locked.

If you truley want a cheap unlocked iPhone 3Gs you need a friend in Australia.

The Apple web store are selling 16gb unlocked one for around £430

Getting back to the original post, is the consensus that these are being shipped from America for use on the UK market and so they should be fully functional with an O2 contract account?

You bought it from Apple U.K. it will be for the U.K. no matter where it ships from. The original allocation of 3Gs's came direct from China.

If you've bought it from apple uk then it's not your concern, you've bought it for use here so you're covered by the Sale of Goods act
