2g Battery change by Apple

Hi, I have a 2g iphone which I purchased in Thailand just over a year ago.
I have jailbroken it and unlocked to tmobile and am running software 3.0.
As the battery is only lasting half a day, I would like this to be replaced by apple, thing is do I need to get it back to its original state by doing a restore or would it bok to send to them as is?

Wouldn't hurt to restore it.. i'd definately get rid of any trace of jailbreaking.
