My 3G phone is doing something weird. There is interference on my computer speakers like its transmitting something and the phone is getting hot.

it does this even with wifi and internet off.

The battery is draining fast and it stops charging after a couple of minutes.

The phone is jailbroken and the battery is @ 34% ATM.
I turned off the phone to see if it will charge and it restarted the phone when I plugged the charger into it. Is that normal?

When it restarted it showed battery at 56% and the interference sound on my computer speakers started again as soon as the phone restarted.

What is going on?

Battery shows charging but it now shows 45%???

battery falling further backing up atm can I risk a restore with low battery??

I altered the APN so as to be unusable and my phone went nuts. There was a constant interference on my computer speakers as if it was trying to upload or download something.

The phone was getting hot and it stopped charging.

As soon as I restored the apn back to normal the interference stopped and the phone started charging again.

What is going on here.

I've had similar problems, not with my pc, but with my car radio and battery drainage. What did you do with the APN settings to get it back to normal

Its not a problem with the pc. I have el chepo pc speakers with poor RF shielding so when the phone rings or a text or data is being used I can here it through the speakers.

The reason I mentioned this is because the RF interference was constant it was going and going.

I just changed my APN from Internet to Internet. (so the phone wouldn't use data through 3G/Edge). But something didn't like this and was constantly trying to connect hence the phone became really hot and stopped charging properly.

As soon as I reset the APN to Internet (as opposed to Internet.) it stopped and the phone started charging as per usual.

Something on the phone wants to poll or do something that requires small amounts of data transmittance but refuses to use wifi.

I'm on PAYG and this is costing me almost 99c a day.

Thanks, as I mentioned earlier, I have exactly the same problem, except with my car radio speakers not pc, also my phone gets very hot when charging and loses its charge very quickly due I think to it continuously "polling"
Not sure what you mean about changing APN from "Internet" to "Internet"????
Also, where do I find APN and how do I change this setting?

The 'polling' you're talking about is normal. Every mobile phone sends out a signal at regular intervals to tell the network where it is. If you muck the APN settings up the phone is just trying to connect to the network but fails so it keeps trying. This will cause the battery to run down or if charging to take longer, making it look like it isn't charging. It gets hot because it's in use.

I suggest the settings are put back to normal, leave the phone to charge up fully (it takes ages - read the user guide) and then see how it performs under normal conditions.

Note the subtle addition of a full stop after the word Internet - that is the difference!

Why is it when I alter the APN to be unusable my phone goes into meltdown hunting for a connection even though wifi is on?

The second I return it back to normal it stops.
