I am desperately trying to get my iphone to control my itunes on my laptop using the remote app.
I have my iphone connected to my wifi network - this was easy, turned on wifi, selected the netowork and typed in my password. No problem so far.
I then installed the remote app and followed the instructions and turned on the "search for iphone remote" option in itunes. The problem is my itunes does not "see" my iphone. When I view my network devices (on vista) my iphone is not there. Can anybody help? This is driving me mad. Is there a simple reason my pc cannot see my iphone even though they are on the same network connecting to the net through the same router?

All you should have to do is make sure iTunes is open, start the remote app on the iPhone, then "add library" on the iPhone (while connected via wifi). This should bring up a 4 number code on the iPhone which you enter into iTunes and it should be job done. AFAIK you don't search from iTunes for the iPhone, just search for the iTunes library from the iPhone.

I am doing all that, open itunes on the pc, iphone is connected to wifi network (and I can surf the net through it). Open remote app, choose select library and a 4 digit pass code appears but nothing in itunes changes. There is nowhwere to type in the code.

Your iPhone should appear as a device on the left hand side, like this

Not sure why it won't show there, maybe someone with windows could check, as it may be different to a mac

Hi, I finally got it sorted out, my firewall (vista firewall) seems to have been blocking it. The problem I am now having is that if I close the remote app it wont reconnect to mt itunes library without me restarting itunes.
