O2 Iphone PAYG sim cards on ebay

Just got my all new Iphone 3GS with a PAYG sim card (no credit on it though). How does the free wifi/internet work on it then? Do i have to register the sim card using my Iphone ? The reason I ask is Im thinking of putting this on ebay and wanted to know if i have to register it first to activate the free data or can the buyer do that themselves?

I thought you had to by £10 credit when you purchase the iPhone?

only when bought via Carphone Warehouse and possibly O2 in store. At least Apple and O2 online dont make it mandatory to purchase the £10 credit.

from reading threads on here it really depends on the person you get in the Apple store. I got mine from Apple online and there was no requirement to buy the £10 topup.
