A2DP on home stereo, can it be done?

Hi, was just looking at my iPhone and my stereo and wondering if there is some kind of A2DP receiver that can be plugged into the inputs on the stereo (or home theatre set up) that will allow for stereo bluetooth music from the iPhone.

Kind of like a giant A2DP headphone setup I guess... can it be done?

I have a set of bt headphones that have a reciver that lets you plug your own set of cans instead of the suplied ones. You could use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm or phono lead instead of head phones to hook it up to your stereo. I don't see why that wouldn't work

I'm sure I've seen receivers you can buy that do this. I'll try and find one later one.

Luckily for me, I looked for this very thing last time I bought a hi-fi. It's only a small one for the kitchen and BBQ's but it works a treat

DealExtreme have just what you need and they cost about £10. Search A2DP and pick the one with a 3.5mm (headset) output.

SKU: 8422 done the job for me.

Mine are jabra bt3030 head phones but if you can get one for a tenner that's the way to go

Hi guys, just wanted to add that this arrived this morning and I have been playing with it for a few hours with both standard headphones and my home cinema setup (via a 3.5mm aux lead) and I'm really impressed!

For under a tenner I now have wireless music from my iPhone with great quality sound.

Its really easy to use and I couldn't be happier with it. If you are considering this just go for it, it works really well - just remember that the iPhone doesn't yet support AVRCP so whilst volume can be altered using the receiver, to skip the track you must do that on the iPhone and not the receiver.

You can also use it with headset profile and talk through the built-in mic.

If you buy a silicone case for the ipod shuffle 2, it fits this unit just right, so you can carry it with your keys.

Hi Dan, I may be being a little dense but can I ask are you sending the music from the stereo to the iPhone or from the iPhone to the stereo?

If it is the latter can you tell me which product you are using as the only ones I can see are transmitters and from my understanding you'll instead need a receiver plugged into the stereo?

Ok, had a look on Deal Extreme and found this Bluetooth Stereo Music Receiver thats only $12.99

Now I'm guessing I can plug it into my amp using a 3.5mm to Phono (red&white) cable then I can play my music from my iPhone. I already have a USB mains plug, so I think I could use it to power the bluetooth receiver permamently.

If this is the case then I think this is a great and cheap way of adding bluetooth to an amplifier

Infact I suppose I could also use this device with the 3.5mm aux input in my car as well.

Hi, that's the one I'm using to send audio from the iphone to my home cinema and also my car stereo.

Please remember that it charges via the 3.5mm jack so you can't charge it and use it at the same time. However, the battery life is very good.

Ahhh damn, so very nearly the perfect product for me. I was really wanting to have it all set up plugged into the mains and hidden away behind my amp never to see the light of day again, even if the battery life is decent on it. Its the 1st time i've seen a 3.5mm audio out socket also used for charging, and i'm guessing connecting a splitter onto the device so the audio and mains cable could both be connected would be a big no no

My search continues...

It's a fantastic little gadget that is mains powered, and can be hidden away quite easily.

For those that require the feature, it can receive or transmit bluetooth.

that sony bluetooth receiver looks like it would be perfect to stream spotify music from my iphone to my home stereo, a massive library of music controlled from my iphone for £10 month

I would like to know if anyone has used one of these, does the iphone reconnect easily, eg just select it from the list of available bluetooth devices and click connect without any messing about?

The iskin cerulean looks even better, has anyone got one?
