I've just got my Iphone and all as been good!

Today i sync for the first time to my mail server and in pop lots of emails, couldn't beleive how easy it was, then!

My set up is Windows Mail on Vista and my provider is Tiscali.

When i'm on my laptop at work i can't get the emails!

Whenever I try to receive my mail I get a pop up window entitled "Windows Security" asking for my email username and password. I enter it, check the box "remember my details" and on clicking OK, the same box appears asking for the same username and password details for the email account again. No mail is received

Is it that you can't receive the mail to 2 devices at the same time, if so how do people cope with this?

Possibly more a question for the PC forum, but my yahoo mail suffers no such problems. I can access from laptop and/or iPhone with no probs.

You have POP mail, the idea being that the mails sit on Tiscali's server till you POP them off it and on to your phone / computer, once you have downloaded them off their server and on to your iPhone, they are no longer on the Tiscali Server.

So when you try and do it a second time, there is no mail on the Tiscali server to download because you've already got it.

Best thing I can suggest is that you go to Tiscali's web site, log on to the web mail, go to settings and select leave a copy on the server for X days and then view your mails this way.

Its a bit laborious but you could also select the mails you want to download again, mark them as new and then do send/receive from the commputer - remembering not to do it on the iPhone first otherwise you'll get all the same e-mail again on your phone

Just re read your post, sorry Im half asleep,

My dad gets the problem with the Mail client asking for the username and password over and over but no mail , no its not because you cant have it set up on two machines, its normally because Tiscali are having issues on their network

The other but unlikley fix is that your mail settings have some how become corrupt, delete your mail account on the Vista machine and re set it back up and see if that works

one thing to check.... on the iPhone go to Settings...Mail,contacts,calendars....accounts - select the account in question then scroll down to advanced select that and then check your incoming message settings. the Delete from server option should be set to NEVER
