custom ringtones - without itunes?

Hi folks - just wondered as im at work and bored - is there any way to add a ringtone to the iphone (i have the file ready to go) without having to install itunes?

obviously - i can wait and do things properly at home.... but im wondering if theres perhaps an app thats out there (be it for the phone or pc) that allows me to add ringtones without having to download itunes and sync my phone on a new pc.

ah bugger - suppose ill have to do some work to pass the time then!!

I could always just look at the classifieds section - but i cant browse there without spending cash!

Is it in the iPhone ringtone format? Maybe you can email it to yourself and D/L on the phone?

Can't you install itunes purely for the ringtones bit? and then transfer across to the phone? Not sure if you just turn off all auto-sync options this will work, thought it might do?

FYI - this doesnt work, unfortunatley the phone only sees the attachment as an image and wil only let you save it to photographs.

@ Bonessi - again a good sugestion - but the net at work is painfully slow and the whole network would come crashing down around me if i tried to d/l a 75mb file lol!

...guess ill have to wait untill i get home then

yeah thats where i got my current crop of ringtones from - my issue is how do you transfer them to the iphone without having to go through itunes....

its seems the answer is - you dont.

If you have a jailbroken iphone, then you can use iPhone Browser.

You can drag and drop the file to where the iphone keeps the 'stock' tones and it will show up on the phone but in the middle of the tones rather than 'custom'.
