iPhone 3GS - o2 unlimited texts

Hi all,

Im sure i've seen several threads on this subject already as o2 has apparently stopped the unlimited text bolt on for the iphone tarriffs.

I thought I would just share this with you all;

I brought an iphone 3gs on launch day and took out a new 18 month £35 a month tarriff. Today I phoned o2 and the conversation when something a little bit like this...

o2: "Welcome to o2, can i just ask a few security questions..blah blah blah"

o2: "How can we help you"

me: "Can I add the unlimited text bolt on to my account"

o2: "Let me just check your account...ok thats now added to your account for you"

me "Thank you, bye"

Am I missing something really obvious here or did I just get really lucky??

Id check with them how much your getting charged for the bolt on. Im sure I read somewhere that as they've removed the usual 7 quid bolt on and replaced it with one costing £16 or something stupid like that.

I bought my iphone 3G in April and added the txt bolt when I purchased the phone and not been informed anything about not being able to include the bolt on anymore.

I've had the unlimited bolt-on for years, I rang O2 to confirm that I'd be keeping it and they said yeah so if you already have it you should be fine.

I didnt already have it. I heard they had stopped the unlimited text bolt on on the 01/06/09. I'll guess i'll just have to see what my text allowance is at the start of my next bill month.

Have you got an account on MyO2? If so, that should tell you what you do and don't have on your account.

If not, get onto CS and get an account setup

I went into the o2 shop in Plymouth last Saturday to ask about unlimited texts for the iphone 3gs and the guy in the shop told me I could add unlimited texts to any of the iphone 3gs contracts for £7.34 a month extra. He even wrote it on a print out of the tariffs with his name and contact number. Looking forward to chasing that up later today when my new phone arrives!
