Looks like apple FUBAR'd the wifi with the 3.0 update :(

Don't know how many other people on here are seeing this issue , but for me it has almost made my iphone unusable
The wifi (which was rock solid on 2.2.1) now disconnects all over the place even inches from the router. Also the signal is no longer as solid , I think apple have obviously tweaked the wifi power down to conserve battery
There are growing threads all over the internet about this problem , some solutions such as trying a full network settings reset etc , but tried that and so have lots of other people and no Joy
Here's hoping they come out with a fix soon for it
Some people have tried downgrading firmware to 2.2.1 and it is now still the same , so I reckon they have flashed the wireless part of the chip with bad code which cannot be downgraded

My 3Gs and the wife's (my old) 3G running 3.0 are both fine, no connection problems whatsoever.

I do agree with you there, my 3GS seems to randomly disconnect from the router despite it being in the same room!

Glad to hear it dannius
I think you may be lucky, from the growing threads on apples support forums
Wouldn't be so much of a problem if I had a 3g signal at home

My 3G is now, nowhere near as good over wifi - it went from me thinking it was a figment of my imagination, to sheer frustration when I realised just how bad it now is.

Mine was similar, only showed 2 or one bars when my 3G always showed three.

My fix? Changed the channel on the router from 11 to 7.

Three bars all the time now.

My Ipod Touch was like lightning on my wi-fi network but my 3GS barely connects and when it does normally hangs when I change the page.

My 3GS is fine also but I did have this trouble myself with my old 2G on 2.2.1.

I reset the router and in the end it just started working.

Can't say mine is any different. I was actually surprised yesterday when I was out in the Garden and noticed that I still had a good strong wifi signal.

Could this perhaps be a Router/iPhone compatibility issue ?

Like Hondavee,

No problems using the Netgear router at home....not tried connecting elsewhere to date.

No using it with Vodafone at the moment , although that's about to change to O2 as the coverage is so bad where I live

5 feet from router, nice strong wi-fi signal, leave room and its unusable and hangs, go downstairs and it says theres no wi-fi in the house, was ok before but now it sucks, gotta be the update
