iphone 3G gps question

As Navigon has released software that uses the internal GPS, question is how good is the GPS chip and is it worth paying £38 for the software ?

Is it possible to connect the iphone 3G to an external bluetooth gps reciever (like nokia and windows mobile smartphones can) ?

I have this app and have to give it 5/5, the gps works as good as the standalone units. Why would you want an external Gps unit when this all in one soloution is perfect and considering the current offer you can't go wrong.

Re: iphone 3G gps question

What happens when you get a call? Does the app quite, does it still give visual directions while you take a call?

@ lovesexy...Are you using the 3G or 3Gs ?

Do both the 3G and 3Gs have the same internal GPS chip ?

I have the 3G model. The app will minimise whilst you accept or reject your incoming call, you will not get any instructions whilst on the phone, once you have finished the nav app will reopen and continue to give directions.

Still thinking about this.

Navigon are offering the UK & ROI maps £37.99 until the end of tomorrow, after which they will be £54.99.

They are also offering the European maps (which includes UK & ROI) for £54.99 as a special price until tomorrow, but would anyone care to hazard a guess as to what the price will be after that?

I am sorely tempted-especially as I've just cleared off a load of music that I never listen to and a load of apps that I never use and have now got 2.7 gig left.....

This is what I found dissapointing, when a call comes through it throws you out of Navigon and when you hang up, you have to wait for a GPS signal again!
In theory, if you were driving and reliant on the sat nav, you would need to pull over to take the call, then re-establish the connection with the GPS.
Found the gps connection good and the directions excellent on testing though.

I did, yes.

I've only used it a few times so far, but I have been very impressed so far.

Can you upgrade from UK to Euro maps?
