Dialling Numbers from Email etc

Hi

Does anybody have a way of editing numbers included in emails so that the iPhone dials them correctly??

For example:

I recieve an email from a contact and their number is shown as

+44 (0) 1234 5678910

If i press to dial the iPhone doesn't ignore the 0 and i cannot edit the number before dialling.

The only way i have worked around this is by adding the number to a new contact, editing it and then dialling.

Any other ideas out there??

Thanks

Ben

Re: Dialling Numbers from Email etc

The inability to edit numbers within emails/texts is one of my biggest bugbears with the iPhone (albeit only a software issue that may well be fixed at some point in the future). Interestingly, my Blackberry seems to cope with this number format OK (we use the same format on email signatures in the office and I often just select and call).

I haven't found a solution, although with the new copy/paste functionality in OS 3.0 you may be able to copy into a note and edit. Not ideal but probably easier than creating a contact?

Just tried it, you can double tap the number and it'll select part of it and let you move the markers to copy and paste the relevant bit.

Or if you tap and hold on the number you can save to a contact, where you can edit it

Mine doesn't do that in emails or anything else. Weird.

Try: Settings - General - International - Region Format (United Kingdom)
