Advice on selling my 3g iphone

I'm looking to sell my contract 3g iphone on here in the next couple of days.
Only had it a few weeks but want to buy the 3gs. If i take the contract sim from the old one for the payg model i assume this will work ok without losing any features?

Also, do i need to inform O2 that i am using a different model of iphone with the contract sim?

This is exactly what I did and everything works fine. Just back you phone up as normal with iTunes before you sell it. Then once you get your new phone put your sim in and sync it to iTunes and restore from back up. All your settings and apps will be restored. I haven't contacted o2 to tell them I'm using a new phone and everything works fine.

I did the same when I went from 2G to 3G recently.
