OS 3.0 on a 2G iphone

hi all,

i have one the old 2G iphone's from april 2008. it's jailbroken and unlocked and i'm using it with an Orange UK pay as you go sim.

so what happens if i update to 3.0?

can i even do it? will i lose any notes, apps, calenders, contacts etc? or is there any chance i might lose anything?

will i need to re-unlock/jailbreak my phone again?

any other things that might go wrong?

thanks

You'll be fine. Make sure you back up all your stuff though if you want to keep all your contacts and the like.

Plenty of guides out there on what to do.

By far the best 2G Jb guide to 3.0 around

iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.0 Using RedSn0w (Windows)

Re: OS 3.0 on a 2G iphone

excellent, thankyou.

that guide looks very similar to what i did last time.

so i will lose all my deatils and stuff then? i guess it's like re-installing an OS rather than just an update right?

and i also will need to unlock it again too?

oh well, it'll be worth it.

cheers

Re: OS 3.0 on a 2G iphone

Just be careful with Cydia apps, not all the upgraded one have 2G support yet. depending on what you rely on you could be left cold.

Check around for what you use is compatible on 2G 3.0

The Bootloader part of the Redsn0w does the unlock. You don't use ultrasn0w
