iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

Hope people don't mind but starting a thread for T-Mobile users and questions and answers that are going to be unique to us so we don't clog up the main 3.0 OS thread and ultrasnow thread etc.

For anyone who is going to upgrade to OS 3.0 and intend to use their T-Mobile sim card the APN settings that will allow you to access the internet and applications that require GPRS / 3G data is :

APN : general.t-mobile.uk
Username : user
Password : wap

MMS Settings ( I'm struggling with so anyone who has T-Mobile MMS working please post it here with settings you have please )

I've found some websites that have different MMS settings but none work for me.

The URL's are : T Mobile WAP MMS GPRS Settings TMobile

Mobile Data Settings - What Mobile

With regards to price plans etc,,, make sure you either have Flext with Web n Walk or Combi tariff with web n walk. I'm a reasonably heavy user of 3g data checking emails, surfing the net for approx 30 mins to an hour each day and sometimes the odd download here and there and I'm no where near the fair usage policy was is 3gb per billing month, so you should not need to buy any additional add on's if T-Mobile try to sell you one of their 10gb plans unless of course you are a heavy data user.

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

Good idea for a network specific thread as some issues seem to be related specifically to which network you're using your iPhone with

Credit to wicknwild for the MMS settings on T-Mobile;

Don’t forget to restart after inputting the settings. (hold down power button)

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

T-Mobile Outgoing POP 3 Mail Server

This one caught me out. I hadn't sent an email away from my home wifi connection. I have my own domain that I run my personal email through (POP3). Before I unlocked I was using the o2 outgoing mail server smpt.o2.co.uk which of course doesn't work with T-Mobile!!

Managed to find out the correct settings are
Settings>General>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>your email account>Outgoing Mail Server (scroll down to see it)>SMTP

Then change the Primary Server to
smtp.t-email.co.uk
no user name or password.
Use SSL: Off
Authentication; Password
Server Port: 25

The only thing I actually changed was the smtp name and deleted the user and password.

Tested it and it works for me.

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

Voicemail and quick dial keys are fine I didn't have to do anything but if I ever need to take out my sim card for any reason and for me it's only when I need to do the firmware upgrade it will automatically delete the apn settings so I would keep this to hand, the mms settings I would never remember but the APN is easy enough and I'm sad enough to know it off by heart.

YouTube over 3G works fine for me.

Did you activate the phone using an O2 sim first?

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

utube works on 3G now

We had to get the under 18 unlock taken off by tmobile..wife is 35 so they let us remove the lock that prevented phone connecting to utube and other sites that may corrupt minors via 3G

I only found out about it by trying to get into utube via safari on 3G and it came up with a message from tmobile and we had to provide credit card details to prove age..even though wife has been with them for 11 years

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

Hi all,

JB/Unlocked my 3g fine with no issues.

However, have entered the same MMS settings that are in this post but cannot send/receive MMS messages still.

Tries to send but the bar gets near the end then an error message.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Jon

I've JB'd & Ultrasn0wed my iphone a few times now, if you have entered the details correctly on the first page the only other thing you need to do is to reboot your iphone. I noticed that immediately after I unlocked my iphone and placed the settings in iphone the little camera icon did not appear in the messages, once I rebooted the iphone the little camera appeared and sent a test mms and worked fine.

I would be tempted to delete all the details in the settings and then re type them again and make sure your auto spell checker is not changing words or putting caps in, mine likes to change the t-mobile.uk to t-mobile.Uk

Other than that not to sure what other little bugs might be happening there

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

Hi again all.

Right, had a look in the settings in my old phone and found my MMS settings for T-mobile to be slightly different to what has been posted here so far.

Basically my username was 't-mobile' and my pass is 'tm'

Changed to these settings and got that message from t-mob which showed the picture saying should be working.

However, I can only seem to receive pic messages and not send?!

MMS

APN – general.t-mobile.uk
Username – t-mobile
Password - tm
MMSC – http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy – 149.254.201.135:8080
MMS Max Message Size - 30000
MMS UA Prof URL

Any help is appreciated

Do TMobile support / allow simultaneous data and voice connections from the one device? You may find they don't so once you create a voice connection your data connection drops.

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

Strange things happening with MMS.

Today unless I have a 3G signal, my picture messages dont send. I know for a fact yesterday I sent 2 with only a GPRS signal from my house and today, also at my house with GPRS it failed.

I went out, still only had GPRS and it still failed. Got home, went upstairs where I can get 3G and off it went, no problem.

Anyone else seeing this?

I went out, still only had GPRS and it still failed. Got home, went upstairs where I can get 3G and off it went, no problem.

Anyone else seeing this?
I get exactly the same benny, to send an MMS I have to make sure I turn 3G on, bit of a pain as i generally use wireless and leave 3G off to conserve battery.
I'm using an italian factory unlocked iphone.

I have a friend with an ultrasn0w'd 3G on vodafone and her's works over GPRS fine...wonder what it could be?

Re: iphone os 3.0 & T-Mobile users

I wouldn't mind if it ONLY worked with 3G but I have sent some over GPRS. To test it earlier I turned 3G off even though I wasn't getting any 3G coverage and the MMS failed almost straight away, making me think (today only) that it needs 3G to work.....
