Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

So I'm pretty annoyed that apple have kept video recording disabled, even with 3.0 on the 3G iPhone.

Just wondering what others 3G iphone users are thinking ...

Needs a "I bought a PAYG 3GS and sold my 3G" option in the poll. That's what I did this evening!

Re: Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

Well depending on your model you could probably get up to £300 for your existing 3G, and then a 16GB 3GS would cost you about £150 extra.

Re: Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

Not bothered.

Have Cycorder, although TBH I dont know why, I have only used it twice messing around .

Not interested in Voice Control

Not interested in a compass (as tempting as it sounds)

Would like faster browsing but Im not going to pay £100s to get it.

Will stick with the 3G for at least the life of the contract, then may think about going for the 3GS.Only because my daughter keeps on pestering me to upgrade so she can have my 3G

Its my understanding that the 3G doesnt have the right architecture to do Video, I know that Cycorder and Qik does it but they both use workarounds in the background to access memory which shouldnt be used for programs which in turn makes the phone and other apps unstable.

Im sure that Apple didnt want video in the 3G, otherwise one less reason to have a 3GS, but there is also the fact that it apparently cant have it officially.

I voted "Who Cares" as it's the closest option to my thinking.

I would like a 3Gs, but can't simply justify the cost (although I'm sure I could if I tried hard enough)!

Although if I sit and think of the differences between my 3G (that I've just got having previously had a 2G), versus the cost to get a 3Gs then there's no way I would get one.

Maybe when the 3Gs2 comes out will I be able to get a 3Gs!

Good lad.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, you'd have to be mad to use the pay off your contract method.

Put me down for that one to. There was no way I was paying a little bit less to get myself out of the contract. Got myself a 32GB on PAYG instead.

Re: Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

If there was an 'I sold my 3G and bought a HTC Touch HD and then sold that and bought a HTC Magic and then sold that and bought a 3GS' option, I'd vote for that.

Not the clearest upgrade path though, granted.

Re: Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

Voted who cares.

Personally, the new features in the 3Gs arent worth the new price.

Don't need a better camera, or video recording. Voice recognition is a novelty and only useful when you're hands are occupied - driving for example.

And a digital compass....really? Why? I have a watch, I can find North by using my watch and the Sun, Bear Grylls ftw!

Having said that, i'm sure its worth the money to the people who make use of the video recording, better camera etc

Re: Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

I would have loved to trade up to the 3GS, but i'm going to wait until my contract is up is Januay and go sim-only. Then get the next iphone that gets realeased. I think it'll be 4th time lucky, especially as apple have only matched the Pre this time.
Ol' Mr Jobs will want something to WOW the world next time.... i hope

No issue at all with putting your current contract sim into the phone then? Oooo you see now I'm tempted. Not sure of the going rate for the current 3G phone .. but I guess I should check it out!

I sold my 2G here the other day for £170 (was in v good condition as it was actually only a couple of months old as it was a warranty replacement!).

It went pretty much immediately, so I stuck a Wanted as in the classifieds and a guy offered me his nice 8 gig 3G for £220 (I went to his house and collected it!), so that was a done deal.

So it actually cost me £50 to change over and I well chuffed with it!

Go on, take a look-you know you want to!

Re: Are You Stuck In iPhone 3G Limbo Land?

Yer mine is in perfect condition .. it's been in a case since minute 1 of its life with me ... 12 months old ..

I best drop in and see what I can get for it ... I must admit I was wondernig if they still had market value with the new 3GS around !
