I have unlimited texts (Bolt on) so will this mean I can send a few MMS's without any extra charge?

Looks like it according to: Picture messaging - iPhone
So 4 texts from your bundle for 1 MMS

Have you sent a text containing MMS to 1010 to get O2 to activate it.

Re: MMS 3.0 - getting it to work

Tried sending mms to 1010 but no reply as yet. For anybody who has MMS working, what are the settings under celluar data network options.

The link further up refers to pay as you go or pay monthly customers who aren't on the iphone tariff but there is no mention of the details for iphone tariff customers.

Reading this Help - O2
I think it indicates that those on the Iphone tarrif the settings are automatically installed after downloading 3.0, as it show APN setting as idata.o2.co.uk and thats the only setting I had to change to get MMS to work on my non Iphone contract phone (ie I changed it from idata etc to mobile.o2.co.uk)
Hope I have explained that ok, btw although I have sent a text to 1010 I have not had a reply but MMS is working on my phone.

Factory Unlocked on 3.0 getting MMS to work

I'm using a factory unlocked 3G on Orange updated today to 3.0. Had to restart to get the MMS icon to show in the message text window, but cannot get one to send. In Settings-General-Network-Data Network where it has the settings fields for MMS there are some things I cannot find the Orange settings for such as max message size and MMS UA Prof URL.

Has anyone got theirs to work????

Re: MMS 3.0 - getting it to work

i can send them since OS3.0, but when I receive I still have to go to the website for them!

Ps the O2 twitter page says there is a massive backlog of MMS requests, so it should ll be sorted by the morning.

Re: MMS 3.0 - getting it to work

I was able to send MMS on mine straight after updating, even though the words in Cellular data weren't the same as in that o2 help bit. No idea about receiving though.

Although my wife's wont send or receive, despite being updated on the same computer literally minutes after mine. She just gets the text message with the link in. I have changed my settings to the o2 words and I can still send. Still waiting to see if the wife's will send (been 10 minutes now watching the sending bar.

Even on mine it is very slow, taking a good few mins to send it. Im hoping that that is becuase everyone is trying to send a MMS tonight.

Edited: Just had a thought is everyone that is having trouble on a 16GB, like my wife's? Mines only an 8GB and is fine.

Re: MMS 3.0 - getting it to work

Used the mobile.o2.co.uk and wap.o2.co.uk settings, and worked just fine. Texted 1010 as well, got nothing back.

Yopee, finally!!!

mms isn't avaliable on the 2g iphone...

people are having problems with mms on 3g iphones

3g areas are scarse (especially on the isle of wight)

am I putting 2+2 together and making 5, but do you need 3g to send mms?

ok, those of you having difficulties sending messages (or not even having had a message telling you of activation), do you have the unlimited text bolt on?

this is a little fishy

Just a thought...

Assuming all those without the MMS section in Cellular Data Network settings have the 3G iPhone (as the original iPhone doesn't support MMS), if you go "Settings > Messages", is the MMS Messaging switch on?

I don't have a MMS option in there, just, Show Preview & Repeat Alert, both ON.

I'm on Vodafone using a factory unlocked 3g Iphone, settings currently used :-

APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms/
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.12
MMS Max Message Size: 295
MMS UA Prof URL:

I entered the above details in Settings, General, network, cellular data network, is that thew right place to put them ?.

Do I need to do something to activate the MMS ?,

I've sent mms previously from my vodafone contract on different phones so I assumed it'd just work straight away.

Re: MMS 3.0 - getting it to work

I'm using a 3G £35 a month O2 package. Updated ok, but can't get the MMS to work. Tried texting to 1010 with no response.

So I called up O2 - just got through after waiting for 20+ minutes.

The chappy says that the 3.0 update last night was "missing files that make the MMS work"...! he said Apple are aware of it, and are releasing a fixed version that iTunes will recognise and will start a new update ...!

Not heard this anywhere else, but sounds like a load of cobblers to me... I just thought that O2 were bogged under activating everybody... can anyone confirm that they are in the same position as me?

Re: MMS 3.0 - getting it to work

I got MMS to work using the settings posted earlier

mobile.o2.co.uk
wap.o2.co.uk

However when you change those settings you lose the option to "internet tether"

Changed them back and "internet tethering" option is back but it's disabled and you have to get a bolt on to get it working boo!

Sounds like a customer service person trying to get you off the phone by blaming another party to me. I didn't receive a text from O2 and it seems that my MMS settings were in place as soon as I upgraded. Admittedly MMS didn't work immediately but that was possibly due to the servers being pounded.

Have you tried adding the settings manually?

The comment on Apple "missing files" out of the software release sounds like someone trying to fob you off to me...!
