1st Gen Iphone LCD repair - Will apple consider repair ?

Unfortunately being the clumsy oath I am I've dropped my iphone , now this is not an uncommon occurrence but this time It's damaged , The crack originated near the button , the screen was slightly damaged but essentially fine . but mere hours later the true horror has emerged and The Integrity of the screen must be gone as the crack has engulfed about a 3rd of the screen & the half the screen is now a mixture of a white , green , blue and non backlit

I was wondering if apple will even consider repairing this as its been about a year since I bought it ( pay as you go on 02 ) , maybe slightly over and its a 1st gen . Wouldn't even mind paying a huge sum as I've been quoted about £150 for repair in the majority of repair shops ( the 3g would have been much cheaper )

where about do you live,

if in london,
then you need to go down to Ealing,Southall,Acton or bush,

it will cost you £60-800 to get it repair around there,

if you buy the screen of ebay and then take it to one of those shops in the area it is only a £10 installation charge,

Thanks for the reply

It seems 1st Gen iphones use a different more expensive screen to there newer compatriots and if it was a 2g/3g then quotes would have been considerably cheaper

Self installation was an option but the screen seems to be mostly available from hong kong , with that and the new cover and digitizer as well I don't know if its the economically viable option
