iPod and iPhone on iTunes?

Can anyone help?
What is the simplest and most idiot proof way to have an ipod and an iphone on the same itunes on the same computer?

Ideally I'd like to sync my ipod as normal (30Gb) with selected files from my iTunes directory (80ish Gb) and the odd selected file onto the iPhone (16Gb)

??

Thanks in advance

the easiest way to do it is to create a new itunes library, thats what i do and i can sync both my ipod 80gig and iphone 16gig on the same computer.
To do this just hold down the shift key when starting itunes and it should give an option to choose or create a library, just create one and call it "iphone" and then copy what music you want into this library from your main itunes music folder. Just make sure you have the correct itunes music folder selected before connecting your ipod or iphone or you will do what i did when i connected my iphone whne it was on the ipod livrary and it started to copy everything from my ipod onto my iphone. So when you want to sync a device just hold down shift when starting itunes and selct the library you want to use.

Re: iPod and iPhone on iTunes?

I have my i-phone and my daughters shuffle set up on my itunes. My daughters is set to sync with only her playlist in itunes. Any new songs she adds she simply adds them to her playlist and then syncs the shuffle. I do the same on the i-phone. Its set only to sync music from my playlists.

Re: iPod and iPhone on iTunes?

I sync both my IPod and Iphone from the same library. Do the following

Create a playlist call eg. Ipod and another called IPhone.

Connect the Ipod - clik the ipod when it comes up and move to the Music tab in the main window. click "sync only the following playlists" and select Ipod.

follow the previous step for Iphone.

Add the tracks you want to the Ipod playlist and add the tracks you want to the Iphone playlist then sync both.

Hi there, have created a new Library called iphone, which is obviously empty. However when starting itunes now it go's straight to this library and I cannot seem to find a way to reopen my normal Library?? Please forgive me for being stupid but can somebody explain to me how to get back to my original one??
Thanks

hold shift when starting itunes and it should give you the option of choosing a library, then just select the otherone which will probably be called itunes.

Re: iPod and iPhone on iTunes?

The way I keep my iPhone 3G and iPod Touch separate is to use playlists. And then just pick 'n' choose music and videos that way.

I probably got the OP's question all wrong, but it's how I do it.
