I want one but I am not sure. Apple marketing is getting to me. I am trying to resist but very very hard.

I see it as I just pay for the new iPhone and the cash from my 3G goes to cancelling my contract.......

I still have almost a year to go on my contract and, to be honest, most of the good stuff is coming in the software upgrade anyway. The only thing I'd really be looking for that it doesn't provide is voice control.

Roll on 2010 and a sexy new form factor please!

Just got a Free 16GB 3G on a 2 year deal this week so no I'll just wait for the new phone to come down to a reasonable price in 2011.

I did consider the 3GS but couldn't justify £90 for video recording that I wouldn't use anyway.

...i did flirt with the idea of buying an alternative.... infact i walked into the local voda shop to get me a HTC magic.... but i couldnt help but keep comparing it back to the iphone so i thought sod it... ill get the new one! lol

£275-£300 in the last week or so in the classifieds on here.

No chance. Have 3G. 3GS just a very minor update with pretty much every *new* feature available to me via jailbreak. Will wait for the proper update next year.

There seems to be quite a few people who are selling their 3G iPhone for the 3GS.

The biggest obstacle for me is the £227 which O2 want for me cancelling my contract early.
This brings the cost of a new iPhone 16GB to £416 - to me that seems expensive but obviously not to everyone.

I did pay £275 for the first iPhone.

Question aimed at people buying the 3GS when they have a 3G :-

What is it that justifies paying over £400 for the new iPhone 3GS?

Would be interesting to hear your views ......

Don't cancel your contract, sell the 3G, get a PAYG 3GS and stick your contract sim in it..... job done! :-)

Then see out the remaining months of your contract and move to a Simplicity SIM.

I've just been off the phone to Carphone Warehouse regarding a possible upgrade on my 16GB. I filled out the form on the website, and didn't really expect much from them, but what the hell, just thought I'd fill it in and see what happened. The called me back today.

I said I had about 6 months left on my 3G contract, and they said it wasn't worth while upgrading because of the cost. Then he went onto say that I'm as well sticking with the 3G as the hardware is the same (no it isn't), the software is the same (no it isn't), and that the 4G would probably be out in 6 months anyway (Uhh, what?). Then he went on to say no one really needs mnore than 8GB anyway!

He also said something about video calling, but he obviously had no idea what he was on about and stumbled over his words.

I'm surprised they're not trying to convince people to upgrade

I wont be upgrading as the cost is to prohibitive for the benefit i would get from the new hardware. While i would like more space and a faster processor its not worth it for the half a grand it would cost me to exit my contract and the cost of the new handset on top (or the CPW deal).

My contract is due to end in 48 weeks time so i think i will miss this generation of the hardware and get next years model instead.

Bought my 16Gig 3G PAYG about 3 months ago so that I can upgrade whenever I want.

There is nothing hardware wise that makes me want to upgrade to the 3GS so I'm going to wait and see what they do next year.

Just seen the PAYG price for 16GB and it's £440 so it still works out the same.

O2 are rinsing this one.

I can't wait until all networks sell the iPhone then O2 will have to compete for customers.

Except your not having to tie yourself to O2 for another 18/24 months and you can make monthly savings once your current contract is up by moving to the Simplicity plan.
