i have already jailbroken with jailbreakeme 3.0 but am having reception issues. i am down to no service on 3g. i have to turn off the 3g to get a reception.
i am looking at re-jailbreaking.
my phone is with o2 so not interested in removing the carrier unlock to be able to use with other carriers. but i am starting to get a little confused what my options are.
should i use redsnow to jailbreak my device. i dont want to be changing my iphone onto a ipad firmware.

any pointers would be appreciated

Just restore in iTunes and then jailbreak with redsn0w. Know need to use the baseband from the iPad, just ensure the option is not selected
