Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

I bought this App and my 3GS is now jailbroken. Just so you know i've legitately bought this app and it updates automatically in iTunes when there is an update.

Unfortunately there appears to be a bug with WeatherPro and purchasing the in-app subscription.

I say Buy for say 3months or 12months.

and it says:

Code:
Confirm your In App Purchase
Do you want to buy one europe premium 3 month for £1.19?
[Environment: Sandbox]
Cancel or Buy
you tap Buy and type in your itunes password.
Then i get:

Code:
Ths is not a Test User account.
Please create a new account in the Sandbox Environment
[Environment: Sandbox]
OK
Code:
Transaction Cancelled.
Internal Error. Please restart WeatherPro for recovery
Cancel
I emailed WeatherPro and they said

Quote:
Thank you for your request.

You probably have a jailbreak iPhone. At the moment it is not possible to
subscribe to in-app-purchases with jailbroken iPhones. Apple does not allow this.

If you google you can find some results that removing "AppSync" first may help

Best regards,
your WeatherPro team
Not wishing to remove appsync, I wonder if any of you have come across this before and got a work around apart from WP being lazy?

Re: Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

That may be the case for Weather Pro, but in-app purchases certainly do work for other Apps. I've just purchased two things in Navigon for instance on my JB iPhone 3GS.

Re: Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

hmm to be fair i've not tried any other in-app purchases.. :S

Rob, do you have appsync installed?

certainly a weatherpro specific prob but they aren't budging on fixing it as it only occurrs on JB'd phones with probably appsync!
Perhaps there will be an appsync fix...

Re: Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

No I don't have Appsync installed, I pay for my Apps.

If you have Appsync installed then I wouldn't be surprised if Apple can work this out and block in-app purchases. I hope they are able to do this in fact.

I pay for my Apps too

and you are right Apple should be able to block this sort of application but there will always be a way round it.
and in any case isn't JB'ing your phone breaking the law? if not breaking the law certainly in breach of Apple's Terms?

Re: Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

Jailbreaking is indeed a breech of terms and conditions - but is not breaking the law.

I cant remember whether I bought Weather Pro via iTunes or directly from the phone. What happens if you buy Weather Pro through iTunes instead of on the phone ?

Re: Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

i've already bought weather pro so all that will happen if I try and buy it again is it will say i've already purchased this. I'm trying to purchase the premium content within the weather pro app and as far as i know you can't purchase in-app content outside of the app e.g. itunes.

Re: Weather Pro (Jailbreak, issue)

I really dont really see the point of this thread, they have told you it is caused by App Sync so you either remove it or it wont work its entirely your choice.

And as its being caused by an Application which lets you use pirated apps you have been here long enough to know it cant be talked about on here so this thread is being closed.
