i am planning on opening it up when i get home.. restoring to 3.1.2 and then using blackrain to do the magic.... is that all i need to do?
i think i read somewhere about using cydia to 'make my life easier' is that a must, and can i do it on 3.1.2? also do i need the latest version of itunes?
I am fairly clued up on iPhones etc... just need pdating on the last few months i;ve missed lol.

If you're iPhone is one of the latest ones with the newest bootrom then you have to make sure you don't allow it to power down. If it requires reset then you need to connect it to a computer to turn it on again.
It is very important that if you want to maintain you JB with future firmware updates that you click make my life easier on the cydia homescreen. Apple are really cracking down
