How to JailBreak a 3Gs?

I have just picked up my new 3Gs and am trying to jail break it with the Pwnage tool but its not working? I can get to the part where it says "Preparing iPhone for restore" then it ends with "The iPhone cannot be restored error 1604"

Any ideas? I have tried 3 times to create to create the new IPSW file on my MacBook but nothing, I eventually have to not jail break it, which sucks as I really really like my Buuf2 theme

if its brand new never been jailbroken, you need to use the dfu mode function of pwnage, the front page 3g choice is for updating already jailbroken phones.

so press dfu top right and follow the instructions from there.

Ahh ok, Cool thanks I'll give that a go and see how I get on

Funny how they left that out of the instrutions on iClarified

Hmm, I kept following the instructions on Pwnage to get it into DFU mode but it wouldnt let me do it there way, so I foind another tutorial of how to get it into DFU mode so I am creating the file that way now but the phone is in DFU mode now, lets hope it works.

If that doesnt work it may be you have one of the very new 3gs with the new boot rom...

if so.. bad luck.. at the moment no jailbreak..

I think so, its brand spanking new with Orange. I just tried again and no luck, dam I so liked my Buuf2. Maybe soon it will be able to unlock, any ideas as to when?

i think its jailbreakable with blackra1n but theres some problems,

something along the lines of if it crashes or you switch it off it needs to go through the activation process again.

not too sure, someone with more knowledge will pop their head in soon *cough* UEF *cough*
