iPhone 3G 8GB OTB Jailbreak - New Bootrom?

Hi.

Was just wondering that if I went into a CPW store today and bought an iPhone 3G 8GB on PAYG would these devices have the new bootrom?

I'm not too keen on the 3GS due to the tethered jailbreak option that is presently the only method and looking at the 3G 8GB due to not having to blackra1n it everytime I turn it off.

Would appreciate your comments and advice.

Thanks

Ask what the serial number is. If the fourth and fifth digits are 37 or under then you should be fine. There's been reports that up to 39 is ok too....

o2 stores have a 14 say no quibble return policy.

Thanks Kieron - I was under the impression that the above was only related to 3GS devices...I heard that the 8GB 3G were fine
