Iphone 3GS data issue

I have SBSettings installed so i can toggle things like 3g, wifi etc on and off to save battery power, however when i ever i turn off 3G and turn it back on again my data settings reset back to the default settings (idata.co.uk), any ideas why this is?

Also when i turn 3G off to save a bit of battery i was under the impression that i would still get my gmail mail through the IMAP fetch system, however it seems when i turn off 3g i cannot use any data services at all? Even though EDGE is still turned on?????

ANy help appreciated, FYI my phone is 3.1.2 jailbroken on O2
