Iphone 3g Unlock or not

Hi all, if your here thanks for taking the time to hopefully respond !

Not going to waste your time so here's the spec :

Ver 3.1.2(7d11)
Modem 05.11.07

no need to unlock just wanted to jailbreak to use tethering, just pisses me off they want more money to use a bigger screen & keypad

Well that's my rant after messing with ra1n all afternoon I'm guessing this ain't gonna happen for a while

Cheers

Re: Iphone 3g Unlock or not

Are you just asking if you can jailbreak v3.1.2? If so, yes you can. Take a look at the dev-team website for details or blackra1n. Loads of info in the 3.1 Jailbreak thread here.

Hi, thanks for the fast response. I thought I had put more info already

I do just need a jailbreak, but I have been 'playing' with blackra1n and it will only goto the Itunes restore screen & not the author's pic

Also I'm running Vista but softy is in Xp mode

Re: Iphone 3g Unlock or not

Not sure what to suggest. I know other have had some problems also and needed to try it a number of times. I must have been lucky as mine just sailed through in about 30 seconds.

Re: Iphone 3g Unlock or not

I tried Jailbreaking with Blackra1n last night with the same speck iPhone as the OP and had the same problems.
Google results seem to suggest that Blackra1n is fine with a 3GS but with a 3G it tends to take many attempts. Some people have posted suggestions that make the software run but I gave up after having to do a full restore after the iPhone just stuck in recovery mode.
Try a Google search for 'Blackra1n fail' and see how you get on.

OUCH!
The only reason I want to JB is to run the ifon software that gets rid of the Call Forward pop up when making a call. I have a factory unlocked 3G and am using a T-Mobile sim. I may just put up with the pop up message rather than waste more of my life on Blackra1n
