Its just a different app resource, you'll find things on it that wont get approved by apple because they change the way the iphone functions..

if you need to unlock mate you need cydia so for you thats the biggest hurdle done

No its because i followed the steps on a site and it went through jailbreaking and then onto unlocking without me noticing.

Cydia doesn't look very good though...... is it?

Done the following

"1. Open iBEC and iBSS Grabber
2. Select Destination you want to save the files to
3. Click on Start Watching
4. While connected to itunes put the phone in DFU mode (hold power button and home button for 10sec. then release power button and keep holding home button until itunes finds the iphone if you have done this right the screen will stay black.)
5. Restore firmware 3.0
6. Wait until restore complete.
7. Check folder you saved you iBEC and iBSS files to (Per45C --- Firmware ---DFU)
8. Job done"

Are there a few files .img3 files? are they the correct ones? in an all flash folder?

The iBSS and iBEC are in the DFU folder they should be around 100-104kb

You will still need to do the above and backup the ibec files in preparation for the JB.

For restoring your phone to 3.0 state after 3.1 update from itunes.
Otherwise dev JB won't work after 3.1.

Tried this a few times now and not having much joy, it creates three folders 1,2 and 3 and in 2 and 3 theres a dfu folder and both of them have a iBEC file 103kbs which do i need or both? where is the iBSS file?

All help would be great

They're all basically theoretical files that might be required for a jailbreak from the dev-team.

I don't think people need to get them ASAP as is being suggested though

I got both files with the phone in DFU mode.

So now I have the iBSS, iBEC and purplera1nyday file - Is that everything?

Yeah. You can now run Purplera1n's Windows or Mac tool and realise you probably don't need any of it

I'll wait for the dev team to release their JB tools, unless the Purplera1n JB works with winterboard now?

I think its more of a case of WinterBoard not working with the 3GS.

The 3GS is a new phone and as such needs some changes to WinterBoard to make it work.

So you may as well go for PurpleRa1n now and wait for the new WinterBoard to arrive seperately. In the meantime, you'll get everything you previously got from Cydia.

Or alternatively, you can just sit there

the instructions here is posted very clearly and it worked flawlessly. if anyone is having trouble they must remember TIMING is crucial and that the 10 seconds he wants you to count while going into dfu mode is an actual 10 f-king seconds.
