rah such good news. But think I might wait a few days just to make sure there are no issues.

If I upgrade my 2.1 iphone to version 3 and then jailbreak and then ulrasn0w it will I loose all my settings / apps / games etc ?

My contract is up next month, and i need a pros & cons of jailbreaking 3G iPhone

That was easy!
Never JB'd an iphone before and it was all done and dusted in 10 minutes.
Now finally got my 3G working with my 3 sim card. It did take about 5 minutes to show a signal but all peachy now.

I'm running 3.0, JB done over the weekend, Cydia installed (basic GUI version).

Not sure what the Dev Team mean by "add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia" and I can't find ultrasn0w!

If you back everything up in itunes, they will resync after you've JB-en your phone.

1. Sync (this creates the updated backup)
2. Upgrade itunes to 8.2
3. Restore iPhone to 3.0
4. When itunes asks if you want to restore from back or setup as a new phone.
a) don't click anything
b) close itunes
c) switch off phone
5. Open RedSn0w
6. Browse desktop for .ipsw file
7. follow on-screen instructions important bit is:
a) power for 3 seconds
b) power and home for 10 seconds
c) home only for 30 seconds
8. When iphone has done its stuff then restore to saved backup file

1) Open Cydia
2) Goto MANAGE [at the bottom]
3) Goto SOURCES
4) press [in top-right bar] EDIT
5) on the other side of the bar press ADD
6) leave the http://
7) type repo666.ultrasn0w.com after the //
8) Cydia will "reload"
9) Press DONE
10) Press Repo666 etc
11) Download UltraSn0w
12) Reboot iphone

So is ultrasnow just for unlocking your phone from O2 and going to another carrier eg. vodafone?

i'm happy with O2 and just want to know about jailbreaking so i'm in the wrong thread!

ultrasn0w is the unlocking tool.
redsn0w is the OS3.0 jailbreaking tool.

mate, how did you get it working on 3G?

I successfully jailbroke and unlocked it.

I put in a 3 SIM card, works fine when 3G is disabled, but No Service when I enable 3G.

Any suggestions?

Im on an O2 contract BUT I do like to try these things

you want yellowsn0w for 2.1 fw. ultrasn0w is designed for 3.0. Won't be the same ... else they wouldn't need a different version.

ultrasn0w installed first time. One quick reboot and bam! Vodafone UK with 3G coverage. Made a test phone call so all is well!

Nothing, just download those 2 and implement in that order.

Working on VF here too, very easy to do and seems fine so far. I just need to redo my settings and start testing it out some more.

Pwnage is just a suggested name for a folder on your desktop. You could call it "Arty's Great Adventure" it doesn't matter,

But when trying to add the http://"repo666.ultrasn0w.com" to cydia i get the erros

"http://ispaziorepo.com cached failure" & "http://ispaziorepo.com Host Unreachable"

any help would be appreciated

Keep trying, might be because of load or because you're on edge. Its all quite popular at the moment.

I vaguely remember somethign like this on my OH 2G unlock a while ago. I don't think its a good message! Not 100% sure. Have you tried un-installing and trying again?

Have you set the APN to three.co.uk?

It will show no service for a minute when you switch on 3g data then the signal comes in. Seems a bit patchy with the 3g at the moment but I have not gone far since I unlocked it.
