Red blobs on the calendar?
I don't get any?
lol....
I was looking at some Apple vids about the iphone trying to find something (I'm sure there was a bit about holding your finger on an address in an email and Maps automatically launched to show you where it was, but I can't find it) and I noticed that the iPhone (3G) they were using was displaying lots of the red blob notifications on certain apps - email, phone, SMS, aswell as calendar
Even when I put an event into my calendar, I don't get any blob notifications!
I get the text-style pop up on the screen telling me of x event at x time, but nothing on the calendar app to tell me I have x ammount of events on that day....
Is there a way to enable this, or is this purely for people that use MS Exchange and are sent calendar updates etc? Cos it'd be great if I could put something in my calendar on the phone, for example I could enter a party or birthday reminder that might be months in advance, and then on that day I get a blob notification to let me know something is happening today. I tap calendar and see that it's a birthday reminder. Sorted.
Can this be done?

Re: Red blobs on the calendar?
Never noticed that before - I have the same issue AND I have my calendar sync'd with MS Exchange!

I'm eager to know more about this too. Does anybody know how you can get the notifications?

Re: Red blobs on the calendar?
Bummer. Thought it probably would be an Exchange/iCal related thing... Annoying as again, this is another thing my old Nokia would do. If I ever put anything in my calendar, even a birthday reminder, on that day it would be listed on my home screen, so soon as I looked at the phone I'd see it. I am a forgetfull person, so I really liked that feature!!!!
If we could just get a blob with a number correlating to the ammount of events/meetings/reminders for that day it would be perfect!

Re: Red blobs on the calendar?
This is exactly what I am getting at. On my Nokia, and contact I have entered a birthday for, I get a calendar reminder on the front of the phone "desktop" on that day. What I would like to see is a "blob" reminder on the iCal icon on the homepage of the iPhone so I know something is happening that day, then when I tap it, it tells me who's birthday it is....

Re: Red blobs on the calendar?
I think to solve that you need an app. Not the best solution but if it's birthdays you need to remember then there are a couple to help.

Yeah I find this annoying too. The more I think of my XDA orbit the more I miss the features that it had. Putting a birthday in a users contact would automatically add the date in the calender.
Why does the iphone not do this!?!

Theres :
"Birthdays" by SplashData for 59p
"Birthdays! (Birthday Manager)" by Mike Shilinski for 59p
"Birthdays Organizer" by Garafa.
Sorry, cant remember how to link to them in the app store, just search for BIRTHDAY in App Store.

Re: Red blobs on the calendar?
They probably won't unless people tell them about it!
